What is the Building Safety Fund?
The Government has released a new £1 billion fund to remove unsafe non-ACM cladding on mixed use residential and commercial properties that are 18 metres and over and do not meet building safety regulations.

Who can access this fund?
The fund’s application process has been designed to enable projects to proceed at pace with building owners, freeholders or others responsible for the building.
The fund will cover mixed use residential and commercial properties but will not cover hotels, hospitals and buildings without residential leaseholders. The building must be higher than 18m and a separate registration for each specific building block must be provided.
Why is the fund important?
Building owners or those who are responsible for the property have a legal responsibility for the repair, condition and safety of their buildings to ensure that both buildings and residents are kept safe. This includes the removal and replacement of a variety of dangerous non-ACM cladding systems, which after testing have been deemed a fire safety risk by experts.
It has been recommended by the Government that building owners should register for the fund where they are aware of any unsafe cladding that has been used as well as if there is any doubt regarding the materials that its structure consists of. Building owners have been encouraged to assess their own external wall insulation systems, although additional support will be available for those who need assistance in determining if they are eligible for the fund.
