Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) is a UK government fund, pledged to upgrade a significant proportion of social housing stock which have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) performance below a rating of Band C. The aim of the fund is to support social housing residents out of fuel poverty and deliver progress towards the UK’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050. The fund is open to Local Authorities, Combined Authorities, registered providers of social housing and charities providing social housing, with a 2019 Conservative Manifesto commitment of £3.8bn over a 10-year period. This commitment of funds is being issued through a number of different bidding waves, with wave 2.1 currently underway with an allocation of £0.8bn through to 2025.
At K Systems we can support social housing providers by offering one of the widest EWI system ranges, to suit all budgets, building types and aesthetic requirements, including hard-to-treat and ‘non-traditional’ build methods. We can also:
A high performance, light-weight system based on expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulating panels.
An EWI system generating exceptional performance and provides the highest of levels of fire resistance and non-combustibility.
An EWI system incorporating high performing rigid thermoset phenolic foam insulation boards.
The refurbishment scheme at Buckley View has seen 23 bungalows receive investment to help improve the energy efficiency of the homes and reduce carbon emissions using a whole-house, fabric first approach.
We worked in close partnership with our approved installer Profac and provided a suitable EWI solution for the project and complementary finish. The external façade and sheathing boards on the existing, poorly insulated timber frame structures were removed. The sheathing boards were replaced with A1 rated carrier boards and the K Systems M, Mineral Wool Insulation System was specified. VBriQ+ clay brick slips were used as the finish, which were supplied in three colours to totally refresh the facades.
