The UK government has announced the latest successful bids under the Warm Homes Fund, aimed at improving the energy efficiency of homes across England. As part of its broader decarbonisation and fuel poverty reduction strategy, the fund is split into two key streams: the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH:SHF), and the Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH:LG).
Announced on March 11, 2025, the WH:SHF fund allocates £1.2 billion to support social housing providers in England from April 2025 to September 2028. The fund targets homes with Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings between D and G, offering upgrades like External Wall Insulation and other energy efficiency improvements. Eligible homes include those owned or managed by housing associations, charities, or local authorities.
Also announced on March 11, 2025, the WH:LG fund provides £460 million to local authorities in England to support low-income households in owner-occupied or privately rented homes with EPC ratings between D and G. Delivery begins in April 2025 over 3 to 5 years, with spending capped at £15,000 per property for energy upgrades and another £15,000 for low-carbon heating.
At K Systems we can support social housing providers by offering one of the widest EWI system ranges, to suit all budgets, building types and aesthetic requirements, including hard-to-treat and ‘non-traditional’ build methods. We can also:
A high performance, light-weight system based on expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulating panels.
An EWI system generating exceptional performance and provides the highest of levels of fire resistance and non-combustibility.
An EWI system incorporating high performing rigid thermoset phenolic foam insulation boards.
The refurbishment scheme at Buckley View has seen 23 bungalows receive investment to help improve the energy efficiency of the homes and reduce carbon emissions using a whole-house, fabric first approach.
We worked in close partnership with our approved installer Profac and provided a suitable EWI solution for the project and complementary finish. The external façade and sheathing boards on the existing, poorly insulated timber frame structures were removed. The sheathing boards were replaced with A1 rated carrier boards and the K Systems M, Mineral Wool Insulation System was specified. VBriQ+ clay brick slips were used as the finish, which were supplied in three colours to totally refresh the facades.
