When Imperial College London added a new sports centre to its campus, the façade system specified on the project had diverse specification requirements to fulfil. K Systems M Silkolitt (Silicone Thin Coat render), the award-winning insulated render system from K Systems, met all the aesthetic, performance and technical demands of the project. The new five-storey sports centre was built on the foundations of the original 1960’s centre and was designed to blend in with the surrounding architecture. The K Systems M Silkolitt (Silicone Thin Coat render) system specified on the project therefore incorporated extra strips of insulation to create feature bands on the walls. The main purpose of the building is for sports activities, so for this reason 140mm mineral wool insulation system was chosen as it offered excellent acoustic properties, a key requirement of the Architect.
